Around 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then located many other vandalized cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police say preliminary tests indicate the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to where it came from; investigators are presently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
Local authorities said they were working "to solve the case" and have appealed to the residents for information.
An important representative stated the attack made him stunned and needed to be resolved rapidly.
"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, recalling the murder of nine people by a shooter aiming at people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
